Jack White's other drummer drops hip-hop EP

Jack White rose to prominence with the White Stripes, thanks in no small part to Meg White's infamously simple drumming. But since then, White has worked with a number of drummers — including Flint area native Daru Jones, who played drums in White's last two tours.

Now, Jones has dropped an EP as part of a three-piece hip-hop and jazz-inflected combo called the Ruff Pack, titled Beats by TRP and released on his label Rusic Records. Check out a trailer featuring some of the band's music for an accompanying DVD below.

As a drummer, Jones has worked with artists and producers like Slum Village, Nas, Talib Kweli, Salaam Remi, and others. According to a recent Esquire profile, Jones learned to play drums as a child in a Flint-area church. Jones and White first met while working together on a single for Detroit-based rapper Black Milk.
