Detroit rapper Royce Da 5'9" surprised hip-hop fans on Thursday by dropping the video for the new track "Caterpillar," which features Eminem.
In the stylish black-and-white video, Royce and Em trade verses over a wicked organ-driven beat, with a hook provided by King Green. But Eminem kind of steals the show here, dominating the entire song when he appears. "Don't tell me when I'm supposed to rap until/ Especially when your favorite rapper ain’t even half as ill, a savage still, the track’s a banana peel," he raps.
In an episode of Soulful Sundays, Royce explains how the song came together. "I knew as soon as I heard the beat, I knew I wanted [Eminem] on there," Royce says.
The track appears on Royce's forthcoming record Book of Ryan, out Friday. You can check out the full video for "Caterpillar" below:
