A message for the new year from Otis + Carla

I was going to post more New Year's songs than this one, and perhaps put up a few decent takes on "Auld Lang Syne." But I already did a list of inspirational songs for this time of year. And really, you only need one song for this holiday, today. And that's "New Year's Resolution" by Otis Redding and Carla Thomas.

The song was originally released on Otis and Carla's Stax LP King and Queen on March 16, 1967, then released as a single the following year, after Redding had died in a plane crash on December 10, 1967. Redding was only 26 years old when he passed away.

Whether you're curled up on the couch or out there raging tonight, I hope you will be safe, have fun and listen to more Otis Redding in the coming year.
