Get ready to cry — Bon Iver will perform at Detroit's Fox Theatre

It seems like forever ago that Bon Iver unleashed indie music's unintentional, yet all-encompassing break-up/make-up album, For, Emma. Since then, frontman Justin Vernon has taken a meandering path down Kanye West Blvd. and a begrudging trek down Eminem Ave. As Bon Iver, however, Vernon has managed to parlay the idea of a "cabin in the woods" into a music genre unto itself.

French for "good winter," Bon Iver will bring a much needed moody-dance catharsis to the Fox Theatre on April 8, just as Detroit will hopefully be in the final throes of what is shaping up to be a miserable, cold-ass winter.

The last time Bon Iver passed through our merry city was last summer when he headlined the Mo Pop Music Festival, during which Vernon went on a slight tirade about LSD and leaned heavily on the band's third record, 2016's 22, A Million. The headlining set marked Bon Iver's first metro Detroit performance since 2008.

Tickets for the Fox Theatre performance ($39.50+) go on sale Friday, Feb. 1 at 10 a.m. and can be purchased here.
