Home is where the heart is. Or in this case, Homestead is where the art is.
El Club has teamed up with the Museum of Contemporary Art of Detroit to launch a sizzling new series — Summer on the MOCAD Homestead. The concert series will invite nationally renowned acts to share the stage — er, lawn — with some of Detroit’s best.
The series kicks off with Princess Nokia and Flint Eastwood on June 29. The stage, which will be stationed on the lawn of Mike Kelley's Mobile Homestead, will also feature the likes of Raphael Saadiq with support from Tunde Olanirian and A Tribe Called Quest’s Ali Shaheed Muhammad in July, and Tank + the Bangas with Low Cut Connie and Video7 in August. Indie rockers Deerhunter and Protomartyr will close out the series in September.
MOCAD will be open late during the series with various food vendors on deck and some additional surprises. Tickets for individual concerts are $25 and be purchased via El Club or MOCAD. The full schedule is below:
June 29: Princess Nokia with special guests Flint Eastwood and Yoshi Flower
July 22: Raphael Saadiq with special guests Ali Shaheed Muhammad and Tunde Olaniran
