That's the day Detroit native Dave Adams, founder and prime mover of the international music incubator known as the Acoustic Guitar Project (TAGP), wraps up the local segment of his quest for creativity with a free concert featuring artists who participated in the venture. The show begins at 8 p.m. at NextWave Media Lab, a professional soundstage located at 950 Stephenson Highway in Troy.

The Project, nearly six months from start to conclusion here and introduced in a July 9 Metro Times cover story, presented a dozen metro Detroit singer-songwriters with a unique challenge: take a six-string guitar custom made for TAGP and, within a week, compose an original song. Then, upload the tune to the Project's website, www.theacousticguitarproject.com, sign the guitar and pass it on to the next artist. Or, as TAGP's tagline so succinctly puts it, "One Guitar. One Week. One Song."
Launching his concept in New York City, where he now resides, Adams has criss-crossed the globe with the Project, galvanizing amateur musicians in Helsinki, Bogota and Port-au-Prince. Adams, an advertising copywriter and marketing professional by trade who doesn't play guitar himself, committed to videotaping each singer and adding their live performances to the site as well: when that activity spawned the idea of a companion TV series, Adams mounted a successful Kickstarter campaign to fund a pilot – with the stipulation, the backers insisted, that it be shot in Detroit. The pilot currently is in post-production.
As to the performers for the Dec. 28 show, "I think you'll like the lineup," Adams offers. "It's diverse, and everyone brought their 'A' game [to the recordings]. All the songs are great."
Acts scheduled to appear include the sister duo Carts Before Horses, Jesse Passage, Greater Alexander, Britney Stoney, Brad Kelly, Sean Blackman, Erich Goebel, Paul Randolph, Emily Rose, Danny Kline, Andru Bemis and Audra Kubat. Their original compositions can be heard on the Project website.
