He's a Human Eye, a 2010 Kresge Fellow and a never-say-"sellout" punk — his co-authorship of a Clone Defects ditty once used on TV to sell cars ("dude, that's $$$$") notwithstanding. In one way or another, Tim Vulgar (aka Lampinen) has appeared on our cover a few times over the years, and for good reason: He's an absolute Detroit original. He's also one of those oddballs who can concoct an avant garde sing-a-long that'll kickdown musical borders and other such compartmentalized ideas generally passed off as "creative."

Vulgar's worth trumpeting today 'cause Sacred Bones Records just released the first full-length from Timmy’s Organism, Vulgar's solo alter-ego "Timmy Vulga." The press release explains that Rise of The Green Gorilla sees "Vulgar fully realize some of the ideas hinted at on the Sacred Bones double 7-inch. Lush soundscapes that would make a perfect soundtrack to the next great work of dystopian science fiction bookend the more driving a melodic hook-based pop songs."

A USPS snafu guaranteed that we'd not hear the album in its entirety by today but we can say, judging from what we have heard thus far, that the flack's words are spot on.
