Phil Elverum is forever endeared to me for his provocative/progressive lo-fi experimentations via The Microphones --and for adapting the theme song from Twin Peaks into a haunting, autumnal folk-ballad.

He's got a new album coming out... ((P.W. Elverum and Sun))\

~You come out the other end of a Mount Eerie album often feeling like you just woke up; the songs are like half-remembered dreams or beautifully unnerving nightmares, the lyrics crest up front with clarity for one line but then can be washed out by a thrumming guitar tone while percussion punches in just enough to keep you from whirling away like a dislodged pinwheel in a horrible-yet-heavenly hailstorm.

Pac-NW supernaturalist singer/songwriter Phil Elverum seems to have mastered his drone recipes, the feedback-fuzzed twilight dirges seem stirred together with a certain balance keen on keeping it listenable, but still far from the light.

...have a nice, sunny weekend, now.
