Corndaddy’s Heart of the Matter is a new 12-song album from the Ann Arbor alt-country / outlaw / bluegrass band, and moonshine, corn and matters of the heart are the order of the day. “It’s been a while since our last record came out, and we felt we had a lot to say with the songs we’ve been writing,” said singer/songwriter Kevin Brown. “We try to combine the best elements of everything from Bill Monroe to the Sonic’s Rendezvous Band.” That mix of raw rock and trad country is what goves the band its twist. Check them out.

The Mack Avenue Superband’s Live at the Detroit Jazz Festival 2012 (Mack Avenue) couldn’t have come at a better time, as the summer is in full swing, and jazz fans will currently be looking forward to the 2013 Detroit Jazz Fest at the end of August. This should sate your appetite for now, as the likes of Tia Fuller, Sean Jones, Aaron Diehl, Gary Burton and more combine to swing Detroit to its admittedly shaky) foundations. The record is a treat, whether you were there on the day. If you weren’t, don’t make that mistake again this year.
