Howard Glazer and the EL 34s’ Wired For Sound (Lazy Brothers) is a blues rock record and nothing more. Glazer has been playing the blues around the world for two decades and in that time he has honed his craft to a fine point. The playing from all concerned, including guests David Honeyboy Edwards and John Sinclair, is immaculate, but there just seems to be a little passion missing. Still, it’s a musician’s record.
Meanwhile, Keir is all about the emotion. His Keep Moving Forward CD is a spoken word affair. There is a trance-y sort of loop going on in the background while Keir delivers a sort of self-help guide via his poetry. “Be happy in your skin” he says through the opening track. And y’know what? I decided that I am. Good job, sir.
Stephanie K is definitely looking to go the pop “Britney Spears” route and her new album, Good Intentions is fine if you like that sort of super-sanitized pop, with vocal effects galore. I don’t.
