A host of Detroit musos will be turning out to help local aficionado, promoter and all-round good guy Stirling celebrate his birthday on Friday, December 14, at the Corktown Tavern in Detroit.

According to a statement, “Some of Detroit's finest rockers are getting together to celebrate local music/club promoter/rock aficionado Stirlings’ birthday. Stirling has been the driving force behind many area nightclubs throughout the years. He first started hosting modern dance parties in the '80s at the legendary dance clubs Todd's, The Leidernacht (now the City Club), The Majestic Theatre and The Warehouse. He later moved on to promote live music at The Sardine Bar, 313.jac/Jacoby's, and the park stage at Cityfest. He continues to be a strong advocate of Detroit talent by introducing new up and coming artists to local audiences. The annual party is one event that will showcase some stellar Detroit performers.”

“This promises to be a great night of local music. Performing will be some of Stirling's favorites. New local rockers Jimmy Ohio & The Ultimate Lovers will headline the night, which will also feature a set by Olympus Mons, performances by songstress Audra Kubat (pictured), a short solo set by Leah Diehl of Lightning Love, songwriter John Bardy, and a special acoustic performance by Margaret Dollrod.”

The action starts at 9 p.m., and there’s a $6 cover charge at the door. We at City Slang are very fond of Stirling, all that he represents and all that he has done for Detroit music. This should be a great night.
