City Slang: Live the music

The Detroit School of Rock & Pop has announced the formation of a sister organization called Live the Music Foundation.

According to a press release, “Its goals are to raise money for scholarships for students that can't attend our school and to raise money to help provide equipment for our students so they can continue to bring live music to our community.” More information can be found here.

The organizers add, “Our first event is a fundraiser on February 19th at The Magic Bag in Ferndale. It's called "The Bucket List Show." It will feature three bands from our school. Our DSRP Super Band with the best kids in the building, one of our adult program bands called "Happy Hour" and our Faculty Band with a special adult student guest, Kevin Rushton. This guest Kevin, is one of our first adult students we ever had. He believed in us in the beginning, and has been around since. Through our school, he has learned how to live a life with music in it, and has been very open in allowing us to use him as a means to inspire others to live and give a life of music to those beyond ourselves. We are lucky to have such a great guy as our student. This will be a wonderful evening for everyone involved as our faculty perform his "bucket list" of tunes.”

A worthy cause indeed.
