Detroit duo the Jamaican Queens will play Trinosophes on Friday, April 12, in support of their Wormfood album.
According to the band’s camp, “The band is on a spring tour through SXSW in support of Wormfood, which was just deeemed "The Coolest Debut Album of 2013" by The L Magazine. Ryan Spencer and Adam Pressley (formerly of the band Prussia) teamed up to record last winter, mixed by Christopher Lazlo Koltay (Akron/Family, Dirtbombs). The fusion of Ryan's melodies and Adam's knowledge of underground music and production has given way to their "odd pop" sound, influenced by the southern rap beats of Three 6 Mafia, Gucci Mane, and Young Jeezy, as well as the experimentation of Brian Eno and Lee Scratch Perry. They sold out their first NY show last month and KCRW's been playing their single 'Kids Get Away,' which has been praised by Vice/Noisey, Paper, Filter, Impose and more.”
Doors are at 7 p.m., the show starts at 8 p.m. and cover is $7.
