City Slang: Jack White at number one, Stars & Stripes, and Louder Than Love

May 3, 2012 at 5:29 am

Jack White’s Blunderbuss is at No. 1 on the U.S. albums charts, as well as in three other countries. Domestically, the album has sold 137,554 copies so far. This is White’s first album with any project to debut at No. 1.  Congrats, sir.

The 6th annual Stars & Stripes Festival will take place between June 29 – July 1 in Mt. Clemens. Bands confirmed so far are Buckcherry, Tesla and Skid Row. The Uncle Sam Jam takes place between July 13 – 15 in Woodhaven, and will feature Night Ranger and Great White. The St. Clair Riverfest takes place between July 27 – 29 and will feature Smashmouth and the Gin Blossoms. All three sound like nostalgia fests, which is great if you like that sort of thing.

And finally, Tony D’Annuzio’s acclaimed documentary, Louder Than Love: The Grande Ballroom Story will be screened at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland on Wednesday May 16. The interview will be conducted by Curatorial Director Howard Kramer. This event is free with a reservation. Very cool, Tony. Congrats.
