City Slang: Electric Six’s Mustang coming soon

The Electric Six will release its ninth studio album, Mustang, on October 8 through Metropolis Records.

According to a press release, “‘Mustang’ is a word that represents power, resting comfortably in the depths of its ruggedness. It fearlessly possesses a level of machismo and testosterone that few phrases manage to reach. From the sports car to the wild steed, there is a bold and resolute ‘man's man’ environment attached to the stereotype.”

“The 14-track release revs the RPMs into the red. The album accelerates through a series of sounds from the Roky Erikson-meets-T.Rex opener "Nom de Plume," the psych-pop of "Jessica Dresses Like a Dragon", the Pavement-pop of "Show Me What Your Lights Mean", and the aggro-pop of "Adam Levine", in which vocalist DICK VALENTINE takes a thinly-veiled potshot at a unnamed yet uber-famous musician. Throughout the mix, P-Funk influences, Nick Cave textures and Axl Rose references intermingle and flex, reminding you of Electric Six's muscular brand of music.”
