The Detroit Symphony Orchestra and Edsel & Eleanor Ford House achieved record attendance and sales volume of over $160,000 last weekend, as 6000 music fans gathered at Lake St. Clair.
“The DSO at Ford House concerts are a perfect example of what we love to do most at the DSO, mean more to more people through innovative programming in exciting and creative venues,” said DSO Executive Vice President Paul Hogle. “We look forward to a bright future with Ford House.”
According to a press release, “The two-night concert series, led by conductor Edwin Outwater, began on Friday, July 12 at 8 p.m. with “The Golden Age of Swing,” and featured clarinetist Dave Bennett performing hits by Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington and George Gershwin. On Saturday, July 13 “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” concluded the series with a magical evening of classical music inspired by Shakespeare, including excerpts from Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet, Mendelssohn's A Midsummer Night's Dream and Beethoven's Coriolan Overture.”
