On June 30, the newly formed Detroit Sound Conservancy will present the Detroit Sound Conservancy Music Tour, featuring a host of Detroit’s most notable music storytellers as guides to the city’s musical landmarks.

The say, “The tour will also partner with and be logged by the DetroitWiki Project, a volunteer-driven effort to collect information about Detroit’s historical places, current topics, meeting plans, biographies, and more. The DetroitWiki Project is a collaborative effort which was founded to develop new tools that promote transparency and civic engagement online.”

“Beyond its cast of Detroit music griots and supporters on board, the “DSC Music Tour” will be unique in its production process involving the inclusive feedback and direction from featured Detroit music artists and aficionados to ensure Detroit’s music-makers will benefit from the city’s cultural tourism.  Also, because the DetroitWiki Project is an open-source, those that have additional information about landmarks along the tour are encouraged to add/submit supplementary facts on the “Detroit Sound Conservancy Music Tour” page on the DetroitWiki site.”
