The Cambodian Space Project, the super-pop band with all Cambodian lyrics, play Northern Lights Lounge on Saturday, August 3. Show starts at 10 p.m. and cover is $5.

The band, fresh from a triumphant show at the Concert of Colors, refer to themselves as, “Cosmic cross-culture rendezvous featuring space trippers from various planets preparing a mission to beam its unique mix of space rock, surf, reggae, dub, khmer surin, Cambodian rock psychedelica out-of-this-world and into another ”

According to the event page on Facebook, “Srey Channthy & The Cambodian Space Project have come a long way, from Phnom Penh to Detroit, with the idea to blend their hard-bit Cambodian psychedelic sound into Motorcity's music scene. And what a way to kick things off, Detroit's own Dennis Coffey taking up producer duties for the CAMBODIAN SPACE PROJECT's third LP. This night promises to be a great insight into the sounds of Cambodian rock ' a holiday in Cambodia' and a preview of how Srey Channthy, the diva of the Cambodian rice fields, can mix it up with some of the city's finest...byo dancing shoes. DJ's and very special guests.”
