After four nights of Blowout-related debauchery, blogging and all-round entertainment, we managed to get some sleep on Sunday and now City Slang is able to resume full daily-blog duties. Our inbox is full though, so let’s play catch-up a little.

Local-area metal heads Battlecross are going on tour with fellow horn-throwers Origin, Cattle Decapitation, Decrepit Birth, Aborted, and Rings of Saturn. The tour hits here on March 24, when Exploder will be added to the bill at the Token Lounge, Westland.

Battlecross’ Kyle “Gumby” Gunther said, “Battlecross is stoked to share the stage with bands as respected as Origin, Cattle Decapitation, Decrepit Birth, Aborted, and fellow newcomers Rings of Saturn. We're thankful to have the support of Liquid Metal and fan support on YouTube. We anticipate that a lot of kids are going to come out to support the tour and we're going to thank each and every one of them! We can't wait to inject some Detroit thrash into this extremely heavy & talented lineup and make some new friends along the way. See you on the road!”

Smooth jazz swinger Ben Sharkey will perform at the launch of John D Bistro, at the site of the old Club Bart in Ferndale, on Thursday, March 8. Fine food and finer art will be the order of the day.

fIREHOSE, featuring current Stooges bassist Mike Watt, have reformed and will tour the U.S. in April. No Metro Detroit date yet, but hopefully that will change soon. Watt has also released a book tagged a “Photographic Memoir of Life at Home and On the Road” called On and Off the Bass via Three Rooms Press.

On Friday, March 2, Obie Trice premiered his new single, “Spend the Day”, on Vibe.com. Hear it here. Very sweet.
