Old school punks the 3D Invisibles, plus Bootsey X & the Lovemasters and the Casket Bastards are to play a Halloween mega-show, called the Halloween Monster Rally, at the New Dodge in Hamtramck on October 29. The fun starts at 9 p.m.

According to the event info page, “The 3-D Invisibles materialize to rock your Halloween in their inimitable style, aided by the graveyard groove of the Casket Bastards and the bloodcurdling beat of Bootsey X & the Lovemasters. It's a classic monster costume party. Come as your favorite character from classic horror films. There'll be a costume contest with prizes.”

The 3D Invisibles, of course, have been doing the monster surf thing for years. They themselves say, “The band became the core for a series of genre-specific spin off bands, begining with the masked Zombie Surfers, who played a mix of surf instros, trashy surf vocals, and horror novelty songs. This was followed by the KAOS Killers ('60s spy music), Screamin' Savage & the Cavemen (trash rock & roll in the Wavy Gravy/Big Itch vein), The Hellbenders (spaghetti western style guitar instros and ruthless gunfighter ballads), The Volcanos (hi-energy surf and garage), and The Meltdowns ('60s R&B rock). The B-Movie Brain comp documented the phenomenon with 4-5 songs each from five of the bands.

Should be fun.
