Poet and author (and former Detroiter) Cherrie Amour will read from her first book of poetry, Free to Be Me: Poems on Life, Love and Relationships at the Plymouth United Church of Christ at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 30.
“I found my poetic voice in Detroit during the eight plus years I lived and worked there,” says Amour, who currently lives in Baltimore, Maryland. “The strong and vibrant artists’ community in Detroit gave me many opportunities to share my work and practice my craft.”
Amour has released two spoken word records, ilovemesomewords! and Love’s Journey. Both projects were produced by Ray Merriweathers, also known as the Unknown Soldier from the Detroit techno collective Underground Resistance.
