BULL!

Well, Red Bull will be doing more in Detroit this week than just kicking your ass with too much caffeine and sugar. Tomorrow night (Thursday, July 31st), the national Red Bull Big Tune competition of beat-making producers will be hitting D-Town. Our city marks the fourth stop in a series of eight regional competitions, seeking “the most talented producer in the U.S.” Other participating cities include Philadelphia, Houston, Chicago, Seattle, Washington D.C., and Los Angeles. Modeled after Jamaican sound clashes, the competition last year attracted such stars as De La Soul, Just Blaze, Chali2na, Sean Price, Black Milk and HI- Tek to the event. The winning two producers from each city will then square off in December at the Red Bull Big Tune National Championships in New York City, with the winner receiving custom studio equipment and an opportunity to collaborate with a recording artist of his/her choice at the Red Bull Studios in swingin’ Santa Monica, California. Last year’s winner Brainstorm of Dyme Def opted to work with Young Buck; you can hear their track here www.redbullbigtune.com. Other artists available for collaboration were Redman and Talib Kweli.

The event will take place tomorrow night at the Majestic Theatre. Doors are at 9 p.m. Event at 10 p.m.
