Congratulations to
Dendura, the Grand Rapids-based, female-fronted, Egyptian-inspired, progressive metal band (with belly dancers!) for recently scoring an indie label deal with the Austin-based
KillZone Records. The group is reportedly discussing going into the studio "with a national producer who’s worked with some very big bands," according to their publicist. The group -- which plays Detroit regularly -- also has a track on the 2007
ProgPower Festival CD sampler that will be given to the 50,000 people attending the sold-out festival in Atlanta on October 5th and 6th. Dendura is also joining
Fuel and other bands on the
Bootleg compilation from
WGRD, one of the two major rock stations in Grand Rapids.
The band, with belly dancer Abida Blaze in tow (well, that might certainly get me out!), is playing their last show at the I-Rock on Harper Avenue in Detroit on Monday, Oct. 8th, before hibernating for a few months to work on new material and write a film score.
We're assuming the two dudes in the middle are not the belly dancer...
