In 2015 you, like us, probably never thought you would say Beck and Beyonce in the same sentence let alone find them battling it out in the Grammy category for “Album of the Year.” But when songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Beck won for Morning Phase over Queen Bey’s self-titled banger, it was akin to when Scorsese won his first Oscar for The Departed; long overdue.

With a diversely entertaining, melancholic, and ever-evolving career with ten studio records (his latest, Colors, is pegged for a fall release) and now a Grammy, Beck continues to defy odds by redefining them — which makes the fact that he is the supporting act for U2 on their Joshua Tree tour completely fitting — and still so very strange.
Beck opens for U2 this Sunday, Sept. 3 at Ford Field, located at 2000 Brush St., Detroit. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.; show starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets start at $290. For more info call 313-262-2000 or go to fordfield.com.
