Aretha Franklin will release her new album on October 21st, Aretha Franklin Sings the Great Diva Classics, which will include the cover of Adele's "Rolling in the Deep." The studio version of the cover hit the internet the other day, with generally positive reviews. The one exception being the debate of whether or not the Detroit legend was auto-tuned on the recording.

Anyway, she performed the song on the Late Show with David Letterman, and for a 72 year old woman, she can still belt it out.

What makes Franklin's version really interesting is the way it blends Adele's tune with Tammi Terrell and Marvin Gaye's duet, "Ain't No Mountain High Enough." Even if the production on Aretha's new album is a little suspect, few people could make an album of covers and not only make it intriguing but also somehow original.
