Punk is not a genre as much as a way of life. This could not be truer for L.A’s X. After four decades of groundbreaking music, X probably finds it hard to believe its music has impacted generations of fellow sonic discordant outsiders long after its 1977 inception.
During an interview posted to her website, leading lady Exene Cervenka explained its legacy rather simply: “Nobody was planning on a career. It was just a bunch of misfits who didn’t know what they were doing, playing music and inventing fashion. People would pull over on the side of the road and flip you off. You knew that it was important because people were fighting it.” The original lineup will perform.
