30 Seconds to Baldwin

Alec Baldwin has been hitting it hard lately. As he glides on hair grease and three-course meals toward his 50th birthday, dude’s become one of the most reliable character actors in Hollywood, capable of stealing scenes in both blockbusters and weird one-offs, Walken-style. He was fantastic in The Departed (“Patriot act!”), made the 30 Rock pilot watchable, effectively skewered contemporary corporate fat cat-ness in the otherwise tepid Fun With Dick & Jane, played fucking Juan Trippe in The Aviator, played hardball in The Cooler, and along the way found time to do voice work and Will & Grace. I always thought Outside Providence and Miami Blues were his best work. But Baldwin’s finding a new groove as he hits his fifth decade.

Speaking of grooves, Alec's bout of heartfelt reminiscing in the wake of Tower Records eating it. (Via Huffington Post.) The first part’s cool, when you can imagine a younger Alec Baldwin stealing copies of Gallery and Club International out of the West Hollywood Tower store as, like, Bruno Kirby and Paul Reiser watch his back. But the second part’s even better, when Baldwin starts name-dropping his favorite records.

Check out Alec Baldwin's official site, too. I love you man, but that press shot is straight off the side of a Just for Men box.
