Nestled away from traffic near where Randolph Street meets Gratiot Avenue is Centre Park. By day, it's a hip downtown bar and grill, with tables and chairs occupying the floor, and serves a mixture of Middle Eastern cuisine and classic American favorites, as well as pastas, salads, steak, and seafood.
Once the sun goes down, however, the dining room transforms into a Gotham-feeling lounge area complete with leather couches and bottle service, and the bar is illuminated by a shifting spectrum of colorful lights that catch your eye from the street.
Two words to describe Centre Park are "classy" and "comfortable." The pearl-white bar tops, soft lighting, and the nighttime calm of the park seen through the glass-pane front create a dreamy atmosphere that makes you feel like a million bucks walking into one of the swankiest spots in town. It's chic but not overwhelmingly exclusive, simple but still on-point. It's just sexy. As if the main floor weren't cool enough, the lower level sports a more intimate VIP lounge with a full bar. Centre Park also sports patio seating in the summertime, when you can order drinks and food out in the open just as you can inside.
Most of the real action doesn't begin until around 9:30 or 10 p.m., and especially on the weekends, when a live DJ takes command of the lounge area. But whether you arrive then or during the slower early evening hours, the personable and attentive staff keeps up with Centre Park's sharp image. Even in the midst of fun conversation, your glass is always full.
Since Centre Park doubles as a restaurant, prices are almost average for a typical bar and grill. It's a little bit more, but not outrageous. Menu items range from $7 to $14 for appetizers and salads, and $14 to $23 for entrées. As far as drinks, they offer daily specials, such as $3 domestic beers and $4 glasses of house wine. Detroit sports fans can enjoy game day specials whenever the city's teams are playing, and those who live or work downtown with valid ID will love the 15 percent discount.
The bar is stocked with an assortment of fine liquors for super mixed drinks. Everything from Tanqueray to Jose Cuervo, Ciroc to Hennessy, Centre Park has it. They also have big-name brews bottled and on tap if you're not in the mood for cocktails. They even have a few house wines. Whether you're out for a night on the town with your friends, or just want to relax with a beer, this seems .
