Diners aren’t dead. In fact, a new one is coming to Detroit’s West Village neighborhood next week.

Located at 8029 Agnes St., Norm’s Diner will officially open its doors on Thursday, Oct. 24, promising to deliver the community a fresh spin on classic comfort food.

The new diner was first announced on Instagram in June, and the owners have been documenting their journey to opening doors ever since. On Wednesday, they finally posted a much-anticipated opening date alert.

The restaurant’s simple menu offers breakfast staples like biscuits and gravy, eggs and bacon, and pancakes, alongside lunch classics such as Cobb salad and the turkey club. Norm’s will also offer chocolate and vanilla malts and shakes, as well as grab-and-go options like sandwiches, pasta salads, green salads, and cake slices.

The space, formerly home to popular local restaurants Detroit Vegan Soul and Yum Village, has a brand-new retro-inspired facade inside and out. Detroit Vegan Soul called the location home from 2013 until early 2022, before closing its doors for good. Shortly after, Yum Village opened its second eatery in the spot, but ended up closing earlier this year. Both places still have other locations in Detroit, but apparently, West Village didn’t work out.

Hopefully, Norm’s Diner has better luck.

Norm’s will be open from Thursday to Sunday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and they’ve already teased something called “Norms @ Nite,” so expanded late night hours and events could be coming soon.
