Historic Two-Way Inn hosts 'Save the Norris House' fundraiser this weekend

What can the city's oldest bars do to help keep a historic, but dilapidated home from the demolition block? Why raise funds through an old-fashioned BBQ and get the barflies to chip in.

The Two-Way Inn, in Detroit's far north on Mt. Elliot at Nevada, is hosting a day-long BBQ Saturday, featuring a full spread of burgers, dogs and all the fixings, in support of the 1870s-built Norris House. The structure was the home to Col. Philetus Norris, a founder of the National Park system. Legend has it, Norris still haunts the bar, which sits next to his Victorian farmhouse at 17815 Mt. Elliot. It's been in disrepair for ages, so organizers of the fundraiser hope to get the cash needed to fix the roof and chimney.
