Have a beer inside a billboard this weekend

The Best Damn Brewing Co. really wants you to try their new Apple Ale. So much so, that they aren't fooling around with cheap gimmicks and party tricks. So, to get your attention, the Anheuser-Busch owned brewery put together what they're calling the "Best Damn Billboard." The enormous advertisement isn't the one-dimensional placard you're used to. Unless you're used to billboards that serve beer.

Situated at 2000 Michigan Avenue in Corktown, the Best Damn Billboard invites Detroiters to serve as the launch market for Best Damn Apple Ale, which is available here before anywhere else in the country. To show their respect and admiration for the city and its tradespeople, they'll be featuring local crafters and businesses like Woodward Throwback, Long White Beard, Butter Bean Antiques, and Sit On It Detroit.

The billboard will be open to the public for the next three weekends and each weekend features a different local charitable partner. This weekend will benefit The Empowerment Plan, next weekend Eastern Market Corporation, and the last weekend Detroit Riverfront Conservancy. The billboard is open from 5 to 9 p.m. on Friday and 3 to 9 p.m. on Saturday with special activities provided by the charitable partner from 3 to 6 p.m.

This Saturday's activities will be slightly Halloween-tinged and will include a Sister Pie eating contest, life-sized Jenga, cornhole, card games, and board games along with and music from Christopher Jarvis and Ancient Language. There will also be art activations by 1XRun.
