Five things you need to know about metro Detroit dining this week

B-Dubs gives you wings — Ferndale's Buffalo Wild Wings is moving to Royal Oak — and you might just get some wings in the process. The outpost of the national chain that's synonymous with beer-fueled binges on chicken dishes and professional sports viewing will open in the new, larger location on the first floor of the former Barnes & Noble bookstore on Main Street, south of the railroad tracks. The first 100 guests through the door for the restaurant's grand opening will get free wings for a year. Also, for the first week of business, 10 percent of the new location's sales will be donated to the Boys and Girls Club of Oakland County. Royal Oak's Buffalo Wild Wings will open its doors at 11 a.m. Monday, March 2, at 500 S. Main St., Royal Oak.

Royalty for a week — Give yourself the royal treatment, in Royal Oak, that is, with Royal Oak Restaurant Week. The promotion, of course, allows diners to enjoy three-course fixed-price meals at more than two dozen of that city's eateries. Participating eateries include Ale Mary's, Bastone, Bistro 82, D'Amato's, Lily's Seafood, Lockhart's BBQ, Oak City Grille, Pronto, Royal Oak Brewery, Tom's Oyster Bar, Vinotecca, and more. Per person prices for lunches or dinners are $15, $25, and $35, and no tickets or passes are necessary, but reservations are strongly recommended. Eve reborn — Fate played Ann Arbor restaurateur Eve Aronoff a bad hand back in 2010, when complications from a back injury forced her to shutter her inventive eatery Eve: The Restaurant. Since then, she's put her energy into her informal restaurant, Frita Batidos, and gone through years of physical therapy, all while harboring her dream of reopening Eve. Well, she's just signed a lease on Eve's new space, adjacent to the Bell Tower Hotel, which she says has "a beautiful kitchen," although she has to do "a lot of renovation and design in the dining room and bar." The interior should be fully transformed by, ideally, the middle of June. Aronoff tells us, "It's off the beaten path, but it has a really nice, distinctive character in a hotel a lot of people recognize. It will have valet parking, which will be very convenient, and we're very excited because it has the perfect number of seats for us, right around 90. The old space had 65, and we often couldn't seat people. So this will be more practical." If all goes well, the restaurant will serve food that's an expression of Aronoff's sensibility, heavily influenced by the Slow Food movement, with a menu of local produce and humanely raised animals, with an emphasis on vegetarian dishes. As if that weren't enough, Aronoff also says a Frita Batidos food truck is about to be purchased. She tells us, "We've identified the truck and come to an agreement, and, just FYI, it's gorgeous, just really beautiful." Keep your eyes peeled for it, and watch for the new restaurant at 300 S. Thayer St., Ann Arbor.

All the world is biscuit-shaped — Looking to broaden your understanding of the world's cuisines? Nino Salvaggio has something for you: International Weekend, which will offer customers the chance to sample foods, taste beverages, and admire the music and culture for almost two dozen different countries and regions. What does that mean? Expect Japanese sushi, Italian cheese ravioli, Mediterranean chicken shawarma, German spaetzle casserole, Mongolian pork, and much, much more. You scream for ice cream — Treat Dreams, metro Detroit's most creative ice cream shop, will host a sort of March Madness of its own. The gimmick will see a bracket challenge pitting 16 of the parlor's coolest flavors against one another to see which earns top sales and knocks the competition out ice-cold. It's a fun conceit, and also a great chance to try the best, most popular, and most creative flavors dreamed up at this one-of-a-kind establishment. Customers can participate before Feb. 28 by offering their bracket. The bracket that comes closest to the actual competition by the end of March will win a free pint of Treat Dreams ice cream every week for a year.
