In case you haven't yet heard, Detroit is getting an Applebee's.

TEAM Schostak Family Restaurants, a Livonia-based company which owns over 60 other Applebee's establishments in Michigan, announced today that they've signed a lease for a plot at 8 Mile and Woodward with intention to break ground on the new restaurant by June.

Whether you're for or against jumbo margaritas and laminated menus as long as books, there's at least one benefit to the opening: The restaurant is expected to bring a hundred or so jobs to the area.

As for us, well, we've certainly had our fun at casual-dining chains. We only hope they invite us to come taste their menu.

Look for an opening before the year's end.
