Last September, the restaurant was ordered to shut down due to an inability to maintain a clean environment. This time violations include serving expired food, soiled surfaces and equipment not working, and inaccessible hand-washing sinks.
Commissioner Dave Woodward says the county rarely shuts down restaurants, but that the board could not ignore the shocking continuation of violations. They voted unanimously to shut down the restaurant.
The restaurant's attorney, Gerald J. Gleeson, told the board that Como's management fired their chef on Tuesday and that the restaurant was operating on a reduced staff due to quality issues.
Gleeson also told the board he felt the pizzeria could be brought up to code in a matter of days and expects it to reopen within a week.
