The owners of the highly-anticipated Baobab Fare East African restaurant will host a pop up on July 29 at The Oakland in Ferndale.

The buffet-style dinner will offer six options, including several vegan dishes and a goat recipe. That includes rice pilau (spice rice with veggies), kuku (chicken stew), mbuzi (goat fry), spinach with peanut, yellow beans, and fried plantains.

Baobab Fare is run by Mamba Hamissi and Nadia Nijimbre, two political refugees who arrived in the country several years ago with next to nothing. The couple is now planning the 60-seat restaurant that will likely open in December for a space at the corner of West Grand Boulevard and Woodward Avenue.

Read more about Baobab Fare here and here. Service starts at 5 p.m. and tickets are $15 at the door. The last Baobab Fare pop ups sold out of food fast, so don't be late.
