The Journey to Reparations Panel Series: Detroit Commission on Reparations with Mary Sheffield

With two sponsored resolutions on reparations, Detroit City Council President, Mary Sheffield, acknowledges that African Americans have been "systematically, continually and unjustly enslaved, segregated, incarcerated, denied housing through racist practices and redlining." The council then poses the question: "Should the City of Detroit establish a reparations committee to make recommendations for housing and economic development programs that address historical discrimination against the Black community in Detroit?" The discussion and following Q&A session will take place in the GM Theatre with a live in-person audience, and live streamed for our virtual viewers
