The play, adapted by Roger Rapoport from the Peter Ferry novel, is a bittersweet love story about Tom Johnson, an African American GI from Detroit and Jewish translator Sarah van Praag struggling to smuggle food to starving people in the northern Netherlands behind Nazi lines. Sixty years later the World War II Vet flies to the Netherlands to reconnect with his first love. Old Heart is a story of the Holocaust, interracial connection and bravery in the face of tyrannical injustice.
