Holy Mole! Mexican Mole Contest

The Southwest Detroit Business Association presents Holy Mole! Mexican Mole Contest. The event celebrates the cooking talents of 15 pre-registered competitors who will prepare their own homemade mole sauce, a hallmark of Mexican cooking and culinary symbol of the country’s mixed indigenous and European heritage. Local chefs and community leaders will judge the participants and the winner will be awarded a $500 prize. Spectators are welcome and will have an opportunity to taste and buy homemade mole by the half-pound from contestants. Traditional Mexican food items will be available for purchase, including empanadas, tamales and a variety of unique desserts.
