Glen or Glenda (1953)

Special post screening discussion with award winning screenwriter Larry Karaszewski (Ed Wood, The People vs Larry Flynt, Big Eyes). The film is an exploitation genre classic exploring the impact of transvestism on an engaged couple in 1950’s America and co-stars screen icon Bela Lugosi, Ed Wood and Delores Fuller. Notoriously called the ‘worst film ever made’ by Leonard Maltin, director Ed Wood’s first feature film has been reevaluated as a meaningful story of acceptance and understanding. Screenwriter Karaszewski, who was nominated for a Best Screenplay Golden Globe Award for The People vs. Larry Flint (1996), also co-wrote Man on the Moon (1999), Big Eyes (2014) and the Eddie Murphy film My Name is Dolomite (2019), among others. His screenplay for director Tim Burton on Ed Wood is viewed as the standard for the anti-hero biopic film. Along with writing partner Scott Alexander, Karaszewski is known as the go-to writer for off-beat biopics among Hollywood producers and film studios.
