Talker headlines with a live set of beat-driven industrial noisescapes as Modern Cathedrals presents First Sacrament at the Tangent Gallery. The Chicago-based duo releases music with Downwards, a mainstay label of sonic experimentation, and recently drew copious praise for their live set at the Great American Techno Festival. Talker is supported on the jam-packed bill with DJ sets by John Templeton, founder of the GATF and magician on the vinyl, and Modern Cathedrals’ own Altstadt Echo and Äsop spinning b2b, Princevali (also of NYC's INSECT) and Inyahed Signalman. Santa Speedo Run
Every winter for the past eight years, brave souls in the Detroit area freeze for a mile in just speedos and Santa hats while running along Woodward Ave. from Campus Martius. The event is a fundraiser run by Halo Detroit to benefit local charities. This year, the organization has the goal of drawing 250 participants, with proceeds to be split between The Greening of Detroit and the Ruth Ellis Center.
