Most African Masks are ritualistic, sacred objects that are steeped in tradition and magic only coming out on special rare occasions. The contemporary masks displayed and produced by our gallery artists make the connection between our thousand-year old roots of those up-rooted from Africa and the connection to African Americans history and ancestry.
