Kate Hinote Trio record release show This indie folk trio, made up of members of local rock band the Blueflowers, has been earning followers with its sparse yet enchanting sound featuring vocalist Kate Hinote, guitarist David Johnson, and violinist Matthew Parmenter. The band is celebrating its sophomore LP, Stowaways, with a release show at Belle’s Lounge. Singer-songwriter Emily Rose is also on the bill. United We Slay A new event series is set to bring Pride Month celebrations to eleven venues in the Detroit area. Dubbed United We Slay, the series includes dance parties, queer mixers, drag brunches, and performances by Olivia Lux and Cynthia Lee Fontaine from RuPaul’s Drag Race, among others. While most of the events are free to attend, VIP tickets and solicited donations will raise funds for the ACLU of Michigan in honor of transgender drag queen Golden O’Hara-Polo, who died in April at age 29. A new event series is set to bring Pride Month celebrations to eleven venues in the Detroit area. Dubbed United We Slay, the series includes dance parties, queer mixers, drag brunches, and performances by Olivia Lux and Cynthia Lee Fontaine from RuPaul’s Drag Race, among others. While most of the events are free to attend, VIP tickets and solicited donations will raise funds for the ACLU of Michigan in honor of transgender drag queen Golden O’Hara-Polo, who died in April at age 29.

Big Sean and the Detroit Symphony Orchestra Rapper Big Sean is collaborating with the DSO for what’s being described as “a groundbreaking fusion of hip-hop and orchestral sound.” According to a press release, Big Sean will headline the show, with appearances by rising Detroit hip-hop acts Skilla Baby, Tee Grizzley, Illa J, Nasaan, and Queen Naija. The DSO is also set to debut a new orchestral arrangement honoring the late hip-hop producer J Dilla, who was born in Detroit and died in 2006 at 32. Since 2020, Big Sean has served as the Creative Director of Innovation for the Detroit Pistons, “providing creative counsel and strategic guidance on a variety of Pistons off-the-court initiatives, including team merchandise design, in-game experience, co-branded community and social responsibility activation, and more,” according to the release.
