Despite the fact that they are responsible for iconography that can propel musicians to the forefront of American culture, music photographers rarely get their due. Now we can to celebrate the artists behind the camera. This benefit will celebrate the work of Henry Diltz, a photographer who has shot the likes of Neil Young, the Doors, Joni Mitchell, Janis Joplin, Jackson Browne, Bob Dylan, Mama Cass, and many more. Diltz will be on hand to speak with fans as well as sign copies of his most celebrated works, and local act Michael on Fire will provide the kind of music that will hark back to the good old days of folk rock. Like any good reception, there will also be wine and hors d'oeuvres.
Starts at 7 p.m.; 333 Madison St., Detroit; 313-963-9800; artistadvocacyfoundation.org; Tickets are $125.
