Trump's number two is in town to brag about letting corporations avoid paying taxes and to help Bill Schuette try to become governor. Tight.

Vice President Mike Pence is due at the Townsend Hotel in Birmingham early this afternoon for a private fundraiser for the Republican candidate. According to the Detroit News, Pence first voiced support for Schuette back in November, when his political action committee announced it would give a maximum $6,800 contribution to Schuette's campaign. President Trump has also said he supports Schuette for governor.

Later today, the White House says Pence will discuss the impact of Trump's federal tax cuts at a construction contracting company in Rochester. The tax reform law Trump signed last year included major tax cuts for corporations and small reductions for regular people. President Trump has referred to the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act as “rocket fuel” that will supercharge the economy — but, as Forbes recently pointed out, economic data for the first months after the law was enacted shows no evidence of a growth surge.
