You might recognize some of Matt Gondek’s work. He’s famous for depicting iconic cartoons characters with their faces blown off. Whether it’s Homer Simpson, Mickey Mouse, or Bugs Bunny, the brightly colored and somewhat grotesque images are eye-catching to say the least. Gondek’s created works for the NBA and painted murals on Pittsburgh street corners, but this will be his first visit to Michigan. “Unholy Hand,” as his show at the StoreFront Gallery is called, will feature plenty of for-sale works by the artist. His first trip to the state is also a special occasion for the StoreFront Gallery, it’s the first time a national artist has shown their work inside the space.
