Tonight: Red Bull Big Tune Beat Battle

If you didn't already know, tonight is the Red Bull Big Tune Beat Battle at St. Andrews Hall in Detroit. It's actually organized by folks from Seattle -- Vitamin D, Jake One, and J Moore -- and they're nationally hosting this competition in select cities around the country. In each, two producers take the stage at a time and square off, beat for beat, and after several rounds a winner is crowned at the end of the night based solely on who the crowd thinks was best. Fair enough? The winners from each city get to compete in a final national producer showcase to see who's truly best of the best.

Tonight is Detroit's chance to get in on this and I suspect some of the city's finest producers will either be on stage competing or in the audience watching. There's no shortage of ace producers in Detroit (good Lord!) so competition should be fierce. I'm working on getting a full list of tonight's competitors but I know that Nick Speed is at least one of them. Speed has had heat for years on the boards and hopefully he does well. But it's up to you. So hit St. Andrews tonight. Admission is free but there's a suggested $5 donation going toward Youthville Detroit.

After the jump, check out footage of 14 KT shot by the Red Bull staff after he won the competition in 2008.

Update: I've got the competitors names. 1. Nameless, 2. Family Biz Entertainment, 3. J Dub, 4. Lancescape 5. Izzy the Kid, 6. Nick Speed, 7. 2oolman, 8. Vaughn T, 9. J Rell, 10. No Speakers. 11. Northern Profit.
