'Tis Pity She's a Whore

‘Tis Pity She’s a Whore was first published in 1633 and drew immediate controversy. Sometimes viewed as an “R-rated Romeo and Juliet,” it covers the subject of sibling romance, blended with violence. As this tale of forbidden love unfolds, characters are forced to question their religious, philosophical, and moral beliefs - inevitably leading to impulsive and violent acts that defy the boundaries of love and the bonds of family. This classic theatre production is presented by Oakland University theatre students as part of their “company class” – an actual university class auditioned for and presented by students.
