Now celebrating their 25th season in 2018–19, the Grammy Award-winning Pacifica Quartet is widely regarded as one of the leading string quartets of the world, a position firmly established through their concerts, recordings, and prestigious ongoing residencies at the Aspen Music Festival, New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art and Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music.
For this inaugural concert on the CMSD’s new War Memorial Series, the quartet has chosen an extraordinary program: an early Beethoven masterpiece, the most uniquely colorful of all of Bartok’s six string quartets, and a lush romantic treasure by Mendelssohn.
