The Misanthrope

Can Moliere be relevant 400 years later? Barefoot Productions Theatre presents “The Misanthrope,” a classic farce about the 17th century King of France, his Court and its hypocrisy. Audiences will find it surprisingly relevant, with comedic episodes of miscommunication surprisingly appropriate in an era of texting & social media. As Moliere’s most famous play, it tells a universal human truth:people want to be liked & they will lie to to accomplish this.We have incorporated today’s use of social media, (smart phones, snapchat, twitter & messenger) to help tell a story about the rudeness & damage of misunderstood communications.
