The Food Issue 

It's a matter of sustenance, of course, but the proposition here, in our second annual food issue, is that food can be something more, a matter of self-definition, a matter of heart and soul. And that's the case whether you're contemplating the possibilities of the lowly potato or preparing for a meal by unpacking shopping bags of "dark-as-night" mussels and equally enticing ingredients. We're going to take you into the kitchens with pros and people who serve themselves and their friends like pros. We'll down coneys with popular blogger Uncle Grambo and get a taste of the great culinary divide in America. That's in addition to our regular food features, including, this week, a visit to an old favorite of a local restaurant and some choice oenophilic advice. Be our guest, dig in, drink up. —W.
